golfers<\/mark><\/a>, with Tiger leading the list as he continues his pursuit of Jack Nicklaus for #1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tiger will be 49 years old when the 2025 season gets under way, and it appears that injuries suffered in the 2021 auto accident combined with ongoing back issues will ultimately keep him from overtaking Nicklaus. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t try telling that to<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\"> <\/mark><a href=\"https:\/\/tigerwoods.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Tiger<\/mark><\/a> though&#8211;he just underwent another surgery to alleviate persistent back spasms that slowed him in 2024 with every intention of playing more tour events in \u201925 and getting competitive again in the majors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Tiger holds a pretty good lead over Jack in tour wins, and he is very close to <a href=\"https:\/\/nicklausmuseum.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Nicklaus<\/mark><\/a> in cut and top 10 percentage, but Jack\u2019s 3 additional major wins along with his tremendous number of major top 10\u2019s make it seemingly impossible for Tiger to run him down at this point. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even should Tiger coax another major championship from his battered body, he would still come up just a bit shy\u2014unless he could also add another tour win and a major top 10 or two. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s a long shot, but then again betting against Tiger Woods has never been a wise thing to do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"957\" href=\"https:\/\/golfday.us\/blog\/2024-pga-tour-power-ranking\/\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Scheffler\u2019s 2024 season<\/mark><\/a> was among the greatest of all-time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And Scottie\u2019s \u201923 season was pretty fantastic as well, with 2 wins and 17 top-10\u2019s (including 3 major top-10\u2019s). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Scheffler ended the 2022 season at #112 among the greatest players of all-time, jumping to #97 in 2023 and he now stands at #60\u2014while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/335551095319516\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Scottie<\/mark><\/a> won\u2019t turn 30 years old until 2026. While 2024 was a disappointment, particularly the painful loss at the U.S. Open, Rory still made 18 of 19 cuts and recorded 7 top-10\u2019s, including a pair of Tour wins\u2014propelling him past <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lloyd_Mangrum\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\">Lloyd Mangrum<\/mark><\/a> into a tie with Peter Thompson at #17.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jack won his last major at 46 and Phil captured The PGA Championship at 51, so Rory still has plenty of opportunities in front of him.
